Linksys
The Linksys success story began in 1988 in the garage in Irvine, California. Six years later, the first accessory for connecting PCs together was introduced. The year 1995 marks the beginning of an expansion of the distribution network as Fry's Electronics became a company partner. Just one year later, retail sales accompanied the company's new relationship with Best Buy.
The search for new technology led Linksys to new fields of activity by the end of the second millennium, so in 1999 a PCMCIA card for laptops was introduced. It went down in history as the first card for private telephony and fast Ethernet.
In 2001 Linksys had something special to celebrate as its millionth cable/DSL router was sold, making it the market leader in retail. In 2002 Linksys first brought out its new Wireless G products. Linksys was taken over by Cisco Systems Incorporated in 2003. This was followed by the introduction of Voice over IP devices which were then increasingly more popular on the market after 2004.
The company Linksys By Cisco received ISO 9001 certification in 2007. Just like its award from Electronic House for product of the year in 2008, many other surprises are sure to be in store from Linksys.
