A home server is a talented piece of hardware that can perform numerous tasks. These servers usually run on the Linux operating system.

Many different types of media can be edited and saved on the server. The home server is able to deal with the most diverse of tasks. As an example, folders for common use can be created. The administrator can also assign individual users their own user privileges. Additionally, up to ten people with computers connected to the server can have a server account.

Additional features also make things easier for home server users. There is centralized data backup where even duplicate files are saved only once. Aside from trading files, printing can also be enabled so the home server can manage all printing processes.

A home server is thus able to make different services on one computer available to the other connected computers.
