An increasing number of videos and video clips have been posted on the Internet over the years. These digital files often have quite a large file size. The video server was created to enable users to archive these properly. The server makes it possible to control various devices within the home and instantaneously play back media.

Video servers are often equipped with hard drives which are hundreds of gigabytes in size. This way many different films and video clips as well as music excerpts can be saved on the server.

The video server was of course also designed to be very user-friendly. Another characteristic of the server is that it can convert analog signals into digital ones. It can also change file sizes.

But video servers also make many other tasks possible – with the appropriate software, users can edit videos.
